About the role:
JCB Excavators Ltd designs and manufactures a range of earthmoving and materials handling machines that are packed with technology and sold worldwide. The machines you will be working on includes 25 model types across the Teletruk, Loadall, RTFL and rotating telehandler ranges. You will be part of a hands-on engineering team with a real passion for the products we make and desire to continually evolve and innovate. We are recruiting for a Development Engineer to join our Telehandler Test and Development department and play a key role in developing our future product range. Depending on the applicant experience the role could be either a Development or Senior Development Engineer position.
You will have ownership and responsibility for completion of testing and development activities on new product designs, systems and components from the beginning of a project right through to Engineering Sign Off.
What does this role involve day to day?
· Working with cutting edge, machine systems including engines, drive train, hydraulics, software and electronics to optimise machine performance.
· Reading and interpreting test standards.
· Planning and organising the logistics of preparing for the test.
· Setting up and using data acquisition equipment.
· Interpreting and analysing the results to make informed and pragmatic decisions.
· Writing concise test reports.
· Listening to Test driver and customer feedback and communication of the information to design teams and suppliers.
· Recording, communicating and resolving PCMs
· Diagnosis of machine technical issues.
· Working with other Departments and suppliers to solve problems.
· Designing, building and commissioning of test rigs.
· Having an appreciation for the application of Telehandler products and the customer requirements for these applications.
This will be suited to you if
· You have a Degree / HND in Mechanical Engineering or have equivalent experience.
· You have strong communication skills and be comfortable working independently and as a member of a team.
· You have a methodical approach to problem solving.
· You have a ‘can-do’ attitude, coupled with a sense of urgency and desire to succeed.
