About the role:
You'll play an essential role as part of the Production leadership team, managing the assembly area and delivery of improvements. This key role is paramount in achieving product supply requirements for customers and driving quality and productivity improvements. Of course, you’ll play a significant role in ensuring a safe working environment and maintaining tight control over overhead costs.
What does this role involve day to day?
· To achieve Safety, Quality, Cost and Growth targets.
· To develop a work group structure to support the roll out of lean initiatives.
· People management, including absence control and performance management.
· To control budgets including overtime and consumables.
· Implementation of quality standards and the closure of corrective actions using structured problem-solving techniques.
· To develop team skills and flexibility.
· Monitoring of production execution, measurement, and publishing of performance (OEE, adherence to sequence, RFT, labour cost, etc.)
· Manage manning overheads budget.
· Policy and strategy development for assembly function.
· Determination of key objectives arising from strategy and development of master schedule to meet these objectives.
· Measurement and reporting of adherence to production execution plans.
· Identification of ‘bottle neck’ processes and co-ordinate process improvements with manufacturing engineering function.
· Effectively control new product introductions and product improvement.
· Develop, mentor and coach production employees to ensure that they are effective in their roles and can achieve career progression.
· Perform appraisals, counselling and disciplinary actions when necessary.
· Maintain appropriate suite of KPIs which effectively drive the required behaviour.
· Instill a culture of continuous improvement in team.
This will be suited to you if
· You have an aptitude to manage, lead and motivate a focussed team.
· You have a proven track record of successfully leading a production team in a complex assembly environment, this is essential as well as knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes and related resource planning.
· You have experience of implementing lean manufacturing techniques is also important.
